Statement
I came back to painting in early 2019 when my youngest child finished uni. I finally had the time, place and space to create art to my hearts content. Painting is my brain exercise, contemplation and meditation and I find satisfaction and diversity in switching between the opposing styles of abstraction and realism.
My abstracts link to a coastal theme with my interpretation of aerial views looking down on rock pools, reefs and ocean vistas. I use a variety of texture mediums building them up over several layers to achieve my vision of the painting. I really love the coastal colours.
My realism work stems from nature and scenery that I connect with and then feel compelled to recreate in a painting. I also relish commission work that exposes me to genre's I wouldn't normally paint. This is often challenging but offers great opportunity to learn and develop new skills to add to my art practice, where I'm continually striving to become more accomplished.
Currently, my preference is to work in acrylics and mixed media on stretched canvas, but occasionally cotton rag for small pieces. Please see CV below for education and exhibition history.
