The low country looked different that morning. Everything was covered in a thin layer of frost. The marshes, which were usually green and vibrant, sparkled as the first light of day caught the icy patches. The reeds were quieter, weighed down by the cold. The ponds had thin sheets of ice that would melt as the sun came up. Even the birds were quiet yet.
But once the sun came up and started to warm the air, the frost melted. Mist rose from the ground and the familiar low country sounds returned. Starting out as a chilly morning, the day ended up nicely warmed.
