Single Drawn Line/Drummer (2015), imitates the vanitas paintings of the late 16th and 17th century. This body of photographs are staged in a similar style developed by generations of draftsmen and printmakers to record and reproduce ornamental designs against a uniform background of white paper. The symbolic and suggestive tableaux reflects the history of trade, its ties to colonization, and its despairing impact on impoverished communities who produce them.
