Sailfish are one of my favorite fish to paint - they are amazing in so many ways! Sailfish are considered the fastest fish in the sea, reaching top speeds of 70 miles per hour. They are near the top of the food chain in the open ocean and can live up to 15 years. The largest sailfish ever caught was 11.2 feet long and weighed 220.5 lbs. Sailfish are part of the Billfish family and are popular sportsfish caught in the Atlantic Ocean from off the coasts of South Carolina, all the way down to the Florida Keys
