Three women meet up and greet each other in this composition. It reminds one of a religious moment In Luke 1: 41 which states “And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: The position of the figures reminds one of the “The Three Graces” a celebration or connection of three stages of human development a pregnant woman, a toddler, and a baby being carried by it’s mother. The women are in native dress with decorative motifs that cover their entire bodies with the familiar hat worn by the Huichola of Mexico.
