Two saxophonists are playing predominantly featured instruments in this two-tone piece. The cool sounds of jazz between and around the performers are filled with shapes and curves making the subjects indistinguishable from the bridge until you see the open spaces in its arches and supports below. Small ripples of water flow along the bottom of the painting. Lofton loved jazz intrinsically, frequented jazz clubs and mingled with jazz musicians while living in his loft in New York City in the 1960s. He painted a number of works that represented how he visualized the jazz sound and experience.
This work includes frame and certificate of authenticity.
