While nostalgia is a yearning for things familiar from our past, solastalgia is the anxiety caused by the loss of our immediate environment. It is a new concept in human health and identity. We seek to remedy this by preserving, restoring and re-establishing objects, structures and practices that remind us of our connection with the land.
