This was a large picture window and required a frame to support the art glass. Instead of dividing the area equally, the design here breaks up the space into 4 panels of slightly different sizes across the opening. The steel frame is a custom design by Sharon Miller-Thompson - fun collaboration to make artwork out of utility!
The frame is 1/2" tube steel with plasma cut trees and pop-rivets holding the glass in place. The steel trees are different in front and back, so look closely and see the shadow of a branch behind the glass.
The art glass was inspired by the two paintings hanging to the right of the art glass (above the pink chair), which were combined into a photo montage with a mirror image of birch trees set in front of the colorful garden flowers. These colors also brings the owner's favorite color into the palette - pink! The birch trees create a rhythm complemented by the steel trees, with a sprinkling of bevels throughout the landscape, and blue moon rising in windy swirling sky. The beautiful mouth-blown glass rondel in a pale turquoise blue is by Monarch Glass Studio in Kansas City.
"I don't have the right combination of words right now to describe to you the joy, feeling of uplifting, calmness of spirit and soul and the feeling of finally being at one with my home, when you bring your beautiful work into it. It is just as it is meant to be." - MW
