
Raul R. Rubiera currently a sculptor working primarily with 3d printers as his medium. His work is abstract and based on the product of his imagination which is heavily influenced by nature. Raúl uses a computer or VR googles to create his designs. He studied sculpture at East Carolina and Florida International Universities with sculptors Norman Keller, Robert Edminston and Ralph Buckley.
Rubiera retired as a photojournalist after 48 years of making photos. It started in Lima, Peru doing work for advertising agencies and later in New York City and North Carolina.
He spent 18 years at The Miami Herald covering Florida and Latin America. In 2006, he move to Fayetteville working at The Fayetteville Observer until 2016. He joined his son Raul F. Rubiera in the NC studio he opened after working as photographer in NYC.
2018 Raul left the studio to pursue his hidden passion sculpture.
