The painting is a semi abstract piece which uses only black and pink. These are the artist's two favourite colours. They show the duality of life and the universe. The male and female elements of our being. The inclusion of a mitochondria in the painting represents the idea of energy, power, or vitality. It also represents the idea of ancestry especially what we inherit from our mothers. Mitochondrial DNA is only passed down from the mother. The seahorse represents the ideas of grace, gentleness, and mystery. The overall imagery intends to convey a sense of intense emotion. Emotions deep down in a human which seldom show on the surface. The images are fluid and without rigid boundaries. Challenging the idea that human nature is something that can be fitted within the confines of societal norms and tradition. The imagery is also intended to give meaning and life to that which is untranslatable in us.
