Statement

I've been painting landscapes outdoors for over 10 years now. My work is guided by direct observation of nature out in the fresh air.

I like using oil paints because of the dramatic lights and darks possible as well as the strength of color that oil paints have.

When I paint a landscape, I gravitate toward masses of light and shadow within the scene. I'm aiming to convey with a soft whisper, the strong truth that I delight in the complexity of nature and of the visual world around us. I simplify nature's complexities to create a feeling of calm delight.
