She sought me out at the opening reception. She wanted my piece. I wasn't sure what the listing price was (I knew the wholesale price) and though I searched for a copy I couldn't find an "official" price list because there weren't enough copies printed to go around for the unexpectedly large crowd at the opening.
The "red dot" was applied by the organizers nonetheless, and so my piece was off the market for the duration of the exhibition. I was soooo delighted that someone else loved "Vessel for Hopes & Dreams" enough to take it home with them — it was very validating to me as a ceramic artist and it made me proud.
Came time at the end of the exhibition to nail down delivery details and the "oh, no" moment: No sale.
Tacky, tacky, tacky behavior. I will remember her name forever.
