Jennifer K Brown is back to clay after a lengthy hiatus in the corporate world. After studies at Goldsmiths College, University of London, she was — briefly — a production potter. Stints as a weaver and textile designer were followed by employment as a financial reporter, Deputy Director at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and various senior executive marketing, business development, and communications positions at Fidelity Investments, Partners In Health, and Middlebury College (from which she had previously earned a BA and MA in English).
Jennifer lives and works in Gloucester, Massachusetts, surrounded by granite, sea, and history. Her ceramics have been exhibited in several area galleries and in Paris.
For me, working with clay is a humbling, meditative, and joyful experience. I’m jazzed by ancient clay artifacts, unearthed whole or in fragments from archaeological sites. I shape my pieces using age-old techniques and finish them to evoke the work of the centuries of potters who came before me.
