Ancient Rings 91 is a kiln-formed glass vessel composed of thousands of individually cut elements, each placed by hand to build its quiet, architectural rhythm. A framework of ivory rings supports four amber forms that rise toward the rim, creating a balanced procession around the vessel. Between them stretches a field of uniformly sized windows—alternating between open and shadowed—allowing light to move through the piece and giving it an airy presence despite its structural precision.
Many of these windows take on a soft green-gray cast, a natural effect of depth, shadow, and the way light interacts with the ivory framework. This subtle tonal shift adds quiet variation across the field and invites closer viewing.
The design reveals its complexity gradually. From the side, the vessel appears calm and symmetrical; from above, the full geometry becomes visible—concentric ivory rings at the base, the alignment of the windows, and the gentle outward expansion of the form. The interplay of ivory, amber, shadow, and the faint cool tones in the windows gives Ancient Rings 91 a warm yet delicately dynamic character.
Reflecting a mature moment in the Ancient Rings series, Ancient Rings 91 offers clarity, balance, and refined transitions—a vessel that rewards repeated viewing with new details and quiet discoveries.
