Ancient Rings 100 explores the quiet interplay of structure, light, and color through thousands of individually placed glass elements assembled within a concentric ring system. Sapphire Blue windows rise through the vessel's walls like openings to sky, while Red Amber accents gather near the base, creating a gradual transition from warmth to coolness.
The vessel is constructed from a field of French Vanilla glass rings that establish an underlying rhythm and visual order. As the form rises and curves, the geometry shifts and stretches, allowing the pattern to respond to the movement of the vessel itself. What begins as a precise grid becomes animated by the shaping process, transforming circles into ovals and straight alignments into flowing arcs.
Light plays an essential role in the work. The transparent Sapphire Blue and Red Amber elements capture and transmit illumination, causing the vessel to change character throughout the day. The matte surface softens reflections, allowing color and form to speak with greater clarity.
Part of the ongoing Ancient Rings series, this vessel continues an investigation into repetition, variation, and emergence—how thousands of simple fragments can combine to create a form that feels both ordered and organic. The work invites contemplation rather than explanation, offering a visual language that is sensed before it is understood.
