This big, bold piece features red, black and white, with large flat areas of color stitched together into a strong stable composition. The two vertical lines from top to bottom can be seen as train tracks, or a ladder to the sky. This is a high energy painting, with a "take no prisoners" feeling to it. It will make the defining statement in a room. The title is from the popular jazz standard by Billy Strayhorn and became the signature tune for the Duke Ellington orchestra. Strayhorn spent his summers as a boy in Hillsborough NC.
