Playing in Deep Color
I’ve always been passionate about color, the richer the better. However, it wasn’t until I did Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way in 1995 and then began taking classes from Phil Sylvester at The Drawing Studio in Portland that I had any idea of becoming a visual artist. Since then, I’ve spent many years as a casual painter and in 2016, I decided to become a serious painter.
I have “seasonal” media inclinations. I work out on my terrace in pastel in the warmer months and in acrylics in my home studio. I’m deeply interested in landscape and plants. I see the horizon as a sacred touchstone, and color as evidence of the existence of the Mystery. Lately, I’ve been exploring the geometry of color.
I believe that each one of us has a wealth of creative energy and that using that energy to make art, whatever the medium, can eliminate violence and political manipulation, misuses of that energy. Imagine a world where the creativity of every person is fully self-expressed in art!
