Portraying whispering moments to challenging paradigms of social mobility through graphic portraiture, collage and collaborative art
MessageA mothers role comes with duty, sacrifice, humility and honor. She shapes and tends to the next generation of doer's through fleshy years of discipline, rules and often much hardship. As her child transitions to adulthood, her role is often called into question.
The Empty Nest Syndrome, popularized in the 1970's, is a phenomenon in which parents experience feelings of grief, sadness and crisis of identity when their child leaves home. This composition calls into question the lackluster idea and flips it on it's head by suggesting an ability to create a new lease on life. The upright mother is precise in movement and illuminated as the birds (children) now strongly carry the challenges of society.

For me, creating has always been a companion, allowing me to make sense of seemingly uncontrolled situations through controlled mediums.
