Large Paintings ( Unstretched Canvas)

Pure abstraction paintings using long handmade brushes on raw canvas. Stepping away from the canvas and using longer brushes takes away controlled mark making. The marks become more spontaneous and expressive. The marks seep into the surface leaving behind, traces of movement and colour. Big sweeps of cobalt blues and sepia intermix with whites on large, loose raw canvas backgrounds.

Wallmatter Series

In researching and documenting under-structure, abandoned buildings and marks left behind in the built environment, I find ‘beauty in decay, random marks, aerial perspectives, graffiti and weathered surfaces’. My artworks link to the contrasts of imperfections, found in the urban environment, highlighting, insignificant marks, weathered surfaces and cast-offs. I am influenced by, abandoned, underground and derelict spaces, vacant industrial sites, structures, old walls & graffiti

Rustmatter Series

Found word and marks tucked away on the streets and walls in Mont Martre Paris, France. A visual and textural descent into the abandoned, the derelict, the vacant and the forgotten.

Creaky Versailles

Versailles palace and grounds in France are extremely lavish and over the top, with gold everywhere. The floors were creaky, but full of character. I enjoy the eclectic mix of textures and patterns of the wallpapers, the swaths of lush curtaining at the windows and the textiles on the furniture, elegant and beautiful. Each piece in the palace was finished off to perfection with lots of intricate patterns and pure gold, gilding. There were, extravagant marble walls, flooring and decorative marble fireplaces everywhere.

Rustmatter Artist Book (edition 8)

Limited Edition Artist Books.

This artist book captures the stunning aerial vista of the Australian landscape experienced during a return journey from France. The imagery showcases the essence  of rich rusted and ochre tones of the earth, intertwined with delicate weaving tracks that traverse the terrain, against the deep blue expanse of the open sky.
Inspired by these breathtaking views of Australia's rugged and diverse landscape, the artist created a series of miniature artist books housed within vintage cigar tins, utilizing rust and indigo hues to evoke the natural beauty and intricate patterns observed from above. This piece offers a unique fusion of travel-inspired perspective.

Crut Series

I see beauty and at times, desperation in the messages, found in the streets, and in the abandoned, underground and derelict spaces. Layers of tagging, graffiti and found marks on weathered surfaces tell stories about the past, present and future. Aesthetically they can be beautiful, even though they may have been painted illicitly on a wall, or other surface’s. My abstractions are investigations into, marks, traces and messages, left behind, in the urban and rural environment.

In the media we are bombarded with images relating to the massive global refugee problem. Links to the landscape, tracing the inhuman, nomadic chaos of the exiled, wandering the earth at this time in history.

Red Stain Series

Up close specimens, smudges and transparencies of life. Beautiful, imperfections, found. My painting is fast and deliberate. The freshness of a mark, splash or smudge, needs to immediate, before its lost.
