Jennifer Beaudet (Zondervan)
San Clemente, CA
Jennifer Beaudet is an expressionist oil painter who paints florals, landscapes of California, and women in beautiful gowns, using rich colors and textures
MessageBorn and raised in Southern California, Jennifer Beaudet Zondervan has always been largely influenced by the ocean. With a great love of nature and the beauty in simple things, her art reflects her emotions and expresses her feelings about the subject. Jen makes it her goal, as an artist, to bring beauty to the homes of her collectors. She has always been an artist; attending college and earning a degree in studio art, she put my dreams on hold to raise her beautiful daughter, as a single mother. When her daughter was grown, Jen was able to pursue her art career, starting a blog and selling on Etsy in 2009. Her Etsy shop is still active called JBeaudetStudios
Jennifer says, "I knew as soon as I could put some time into my art career that I needed to pursue my lifelong passion as an artist. I started painting with oils in 2009, when I was given a set of oil paints that my mother didn’t want anymore. I fell in love with the rich and juicy colors that only oils can offer. Their luster and buttery texture keep me exploring and creating new pieces while discovering myself along the way."
Statement
I use both a brush, palette knife, and sometimes my fingers to get the paint down to achieve the look I'm after. These tools create the beautiful nuances I'm drawn to. I strive for each piece to possess harmony and excitement like a beautifully composed piece of music. Every work needs the right balance that will make it come alive to the viewer. My subject matter varies from local California landscapes and seascapes, to wedding inspired women in beautiful gowns (I've been obsessed with wedding dresses for years!), and I can't get enough of florals! Each piece possesses a little bit my soul, and I like to leave the final interpretation up to the viewer, so that they can develop their own personal connection to it.
I like to use bold brush strokes and my goal is to make my subjects, abstract, but still recognizable. I call it "abstractly impressionistic". I don't always achieve that because it's easy to get too detailed. I am trying some pure abstracts lately and find them so freeing and therapeutic.
Our world we live in is not always pretty. Our lives get complicated and sometimes overwhelming. Art lets us escape from this, if only for a moment. I'm a dreamer, and I like to see the beauty in simple things. I want to spread that beauty to my collectors around the world!
