Statement
I have explored many creative pursuits over the years, but always find myself returning to the easel with canvas and paintbrush in hand. For me, painting is as much a therapy as it is a joy. Focusing on a blank canvas has helped me heal from life's constant flow of ups and downs.
I often employ the use of texture, transparency and layering, as I feel that reflects life - no person or moment is flat, 2-dimensional - everything we experience is made up of many layers of emotion and meaning. At my day job as an interior designer, I focus on details, interior spaces and lots (lots!) of organization. I've found that my art often pulls me in the opposite direction, which is why much of my subject matter involves loose abstracts, florals and free-feeling landscapes (though you'll see some realistic line drawings as well - hard habit to break!).
To me art is about connection - whether it's within yourself, with a particular moment or with a greater life experience. I hope my art resonates with kindred spirits and, somewhere, brings a smile or a positive moment into the world.
