I'm a shooter. From an early age people, aka family, would ask, "Why would you take a picture of me looking like this?" I, of course, would say because. Because everything needs to be captured in that moment of time that can never be repeated. I still run around with two cameras/iPhone and capture everything I can. Some things need to be featured as the sole subject on the page. Others are perfectly happy to be part of a piece that is assembled of disparate bits that somehow come together to make something. Yeah. I did that. It looks like it too.
Statement
My work explores the relationship between the tyranny of aging and life as performance.
With influences as diverse as Munch, John Milton Cage, Mr. Bean and H.R. Giger, new and exciting combinations are generated from both explicit and implicit layers.
Ever since I was a “student” I have been fascinated by the traditional understanding of relationships. What starts out as hope soon becomes debased into a dialectic of lust, leaving only a sense of chaos and the prospect of having to pop out to the supermarket for milk. And that, dear onlooker, is where having an iPhone comes in handy.
As shifting impressions become clarified through boundaried and diverse practice, the viewer is left admittedly, often in tears, with an impression of the edges of our era.
