Salt Memory: Oyster Shell is an original textile collage created in 2025 using layered tulle, fiber, and mixed materials on canvas. This sculptural textile artwork explores the organic structure of an oyster shell through color, tension, and dimensional stitching.
Hand-assembled layers of tulle are shaped and secured with visible thread, creating a relief-like surface that rises from the canvas. Vibrant passages of coral, ochre, teal, fuchsia, and black contour the form, while exposed stitching and soft fiber elements emphasize both fragility and strength. The oyster shell becomes a vessel — protective, weathered, and luminous from within.
Inspired by coastal textures and marine forms, this contemporary textile wall art reflects my ongoing exploration of Spanish coastal influence and tactile abstraction. The piece balances structure and softness, inviting close viewing to appreciate its dimensional detail.
