Jeanette Perez began painting in 2009 but became more serious about it a few years later. While she explores various mediums, watercolor remains her first love due to its fluidity and movement. Living in western Montana, Jeanette draws endless inspiration from the natural beauty around her, particularly the landscapes of Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks and the Bitterroot Valley. Her work aims to evoke feelings of joy and nostalgia, inviting viewers to connect with the scenes she paints, whether through fond memories or the desire to explore the places depicted.
Jeanette also balances her artistic endeavors with her role as a trauma counselor. She finds a natural connection between healing and art, having experienced firsthand how painting can foster personal healing and help others on their journeys as well. Jeanette enjoys experimenting with different mediums, such as acrylic pour and epoxy, but always returns to painting as her primary passion.
Her work is well-received at the Hamilton Farmer's Market, where she sells original paintings, prints, and merchandise. Jeanette’s art reflects her love for Montana and the powerful emotions its landscapes inspire.
Statement
I am deeply inspired by the breathtaking beauty of western Montana, where the mountains never look the same twice. Each scene I encounter offers a fresh perspective, and I strive to capture that fleeting uniqueness in my work. Painting for me is an exercise in joy—no matter how I feel when I begin, I find that I cannot remain in a bad mood while creating. My art is a reflection of that joy, with every brushstroke bringing me closer to a sense of peace and fulfillment.
Through my work, I aim to share this feeling with others. I hope that viewers are transported by the landscapes I portray, whether they evoke memories of a place they love or simply offer a moment of calm and connection to nature's beauty. Ultimately, I paint because it brings me happiness, and I hope that my art brings that same sense of joy to those who see it.
