Statement
Connecting people to color since 1998.
My challenge, as a contemporary landscape impressionist, is transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Working in oil, I reveal the relationship between emotion and environment to capture a fleeting feeling. Blink and you’ll miss it.
Whether painting en plein air or in the studio, my focus is not on depicting a specific time, place or event, but rather on creating the space for you to find yourself within one of my scenes.
Each painting is its own dialogue, a question posed to you: What does this moment mean to you? My work is less about a scene’s representation per se and more about the emotional resonance of color and texture.
I am inspired by the challenge of translating the intangible (your feelings) into the tangible (painting’s forms, shapes, and colors), using a 2D surface. It is through this translation I aim to evoke personal reflection, inviting you to experience not just the landscape painting before you, but your own personal “landscape” within.
Living in Edmond, OK., I'm a teacher at the Edmond Fine Arts Institute and a volunteer “Paint Buddy” supporting Art with a Heart, a philanthropic organization that pairs artists and children with cancer at the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in OKC, OK.
My paintings have been shown in several regional exhibits and local OKC area galleries and are currently on display at Gallery Grazioso in Guthrie, OK
