I was thinking about stuff my parents used to say about me being creative. Some of it was nice, while some was not. Like, one day it’s “you’re so talented,” and the next it’s “maybe focus on something more practical?”

This painting is about that back-and-forth. Feeling pulled in different directions but still trying to make something real out of it.
