This print illustrates the cherry blossoms in Arashiyama which are a spectacular Kyoto spring highlight. Peak bloom generally occurs in late March to early April. Over 1,500 cherry trees line the Katsura River, painting the mountain backdrop in hues of pink. this print comes from "Kyoto Meisho no Uchi" ("Ten Famous Views of Kyoto") which was a suite of ten prints that are famous for their beauty.
Originally created in the Edo era, this is a re-carved edition that was made at an unknown date.
