Janetta Smith
Edmond, OK
I love to create contemporary art finding that perfect balance between the real world and the imagined.
MessageJanetta works from her studio in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She enjoys working with composition, shapes and vivid colors in acrylic, mixed media and photography.
Janetta found photography through her father who was a front-line combat photographer in the Vietnam war. Her early exposure (no pun intended) to the love of photography instilled a creative mind and spirit that continued to develop through adulthood. She enjoys working with composition, shapes and colors and is fascinated with shadows. She studies under several well-known artists with her mentors being Bert Seaborn, Ardith Goodwin and Sandra Duran Wilson.
Statement
I love working with composition, shapes and vivid colors in acrylic, mixed media and photography.
For me, it’s all about the creation process. I like to explore ways to create more depth and dance in my pieces. My acrylic-on-acrylic series creates an energy and excitement with colors, shapes, and lines that draw the eye through the chaos and into unity. Whether I am painting abstracts, or life, my personality shows through with emotion evoking color and depth. I love to create contemporary art finding that perfect balance between the real world and the imagined.
Some take refuge in the chaos that surrounds them. I explore that and show you how chaos can lead to joyful tranquility.
