Janet uses her personal library of nature photography and past experiences camping and hiking throughout the USA as a basis for her artwork themes.
MessageI currently exhibit my framed textile artwork and oil paintings online, at local exhibits, local art festivals and at one gallery in Lakeland, Florida. It has been a great 10 years participating in the fine art show circuit, but it can be physically challenging, which is why I am limiting outdoor shows. I am more open to consignments, exhibits and commissions than I previously allowed time for.
My mixed media, acrylic fabric paintings and free motion machine stitched textiles are self-taught through books and 50 years of experimentation. My oil paintings began more recently as I am replacing painting with water mediums for oils.

Statement
My oil paintings and textile art draw on my beloved nature and wildlife photography and creative sewing.
For textiles, I create whole cloth fabric painted quilts that are stitched. I use my hands to hold my quilt while machine stitching the detailing and sculpting the landscapes, seascapes and woodland or desert images by hand manipulation of the fabric. Framed textile art integrates archival materials and techniques used to frame heirloom needlework.
Each artwork, whether an oil painting on canvas or fabric painted stitched art is an original that is drawn, painted and framed by me.
