Jane Clatworthy is an established British abstract painter. She is represented by The Bowie Gallery, (Totnes, Devon), Little Buckland Gallery (the Cotswolds) and by Carina Haslam who shows her work in both the UK and internationally. She has collectors in New York , Singapore, Europe and the UK.
Statement
I use my painting practice to process my feelings and thoughts, my experiences and memories . I find colour to be a powerful communicator so my palette is always the starting point for a new work. I use cold wax medium with my oil paints as this allows for a more physical interaction with the medium which I enjoy manipulating and experimenting with. I liken the composition of my work to instrumental music. By leaning into the correlations between rhythm, tone and texture, I aim to to engage the viewer at a subconscious level, creating an experience that, like music, is felt rather than thought.
