I have had a love of art for a lifetime. I have no formal background or training and love trying new art forms all the time. I have been very fortunate to be able to show my work and have been honored to win a number of awards in juried events including Best in Show for both my 2D and 3D art which allowed me to have my own featured artist show. Being able to share my art with others is a dream come true.
Statement
When I was young, I would take long walks with dad, creating in me a deep connection to nature. I began to see a place that was magical and transformative. I love the smallest details, the texture of bark, the lichen on the rocks, windblown trees shaped by the power of the wind, mountains, flowers, the sun and moon as they reflect on life and the surrounding beauty of the world. I would spend my days exploring and my nights creating art.
I love experimenting, using unconventional materials, bold color, and texture. Art is playing, always growing and trying new artforms. I work in many mediums including paper collage, glass, stone, bronze and iron sculpture, as well as watercolor, printmaking, sketching, cold wax oil and photography. Whether in sculpture or collage my art will often have hidden creatures and elements of the forest, pinecones, twigs, a snake a turtle, mushrooms, or a shed turtle shell, bits of wrappers, maps, dictionary pages, sewing patterns, all used to create a sense of outdoor adventure, allowing the viewer to interact with my art as you discover each new object for the first time and recreating the joy of a simple walk and the discoveries it finds.
My work is a narrative to a deeper story, first created by me and then completed by you the observer.
