Jamie Temple is a painter focusing on landscapes, still lifes, and pet portraits. She began painting in her 20s after earning a degree in occupational therapy, seeking a more creative and intuitive outlet than her medical career allowed.
Jamie’s pet portraits begin with a precisely measured drawing to capture the animal’s structure and spirit. She often builds a highly textured base to suggest the lines of fur and layers vivid, sometimes abstract backgrounds to reflect each pet’s personality. In her deeply personal Pet Memorial Paintings, she blends a trace of a pet’s ashes into gesso or modeling paste, creating a lasting, physical connection within the artwork. Her landscapes and florals are more expressive, using color, shadow, and light to evoke a mood or memory. Nearly all are inspired by her own photos and sketches made on-site, with water and reflection appearing frequently as recurring themes.
Based in Fairport, New York, Jamie has exhibited in community and gallery shows throughout Texas and the Rochester area, earning recognition including Best in Small Works and Best Penfield Scene from the Penfield Art Association.
