This piece is an exploration of the emotional resonance of landscape—an inward response rather than a literal rendering. Using cold wax medium and oil, I built up layers of color and texture to evoke a terrain that is both grounded and atmospheric. The earthy reds and ochres root the viewer in a visceral sense of land, while the cooler blues and greens above suggest water, sky, or memory—something shifting and intangible.
Working with cold wax allows for a slow, deliberate process of layering, scraping back, and revealing what lies beneath—mirroring how we often process our connection to place, experience, and time. This painting captures a liminal moment, where elements meet and blur, evoking the stillness and mystery of an imagined horizon.
