I love the Caribbean, and playing in its crystal clear waters. Whether swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving or just watching the sun reflecting off its surface, the Caribbean has given me endless hours of enjoyment in my lifetime.
"Caribbean Blues" is an exploration of those experiences and the emotional resonance of color. Inspired by the tranquil yet powerful beauty of Caribbean waters, this piece captures the fluid boundary between sea and sky, light and shadow. Using layered hues of cold wax medium and oil paints of turquoise, deep blue, golden ochre, and soft orange, I aimed to evoke the sense of immersion—being held in a moment of calm while the world shifts around you.
This work is both abstract and emotional—a visual meditation meant to draw the viewer into a quiet space of reflection. Like the ocean, it invites multiple interpretations depending on the light, mood, and perspective. My process was intuitive and fluid, echoing the natural movement of water and the constant change of the horizon.
Through “Caribbean Blues,” I hope to share a moment of stillness and depth, a reminder of the vast, ever-changing beauty that surrounds us and resides within us.
The piece is finished with galkyd added to wax medium to produce a matte sheen on the finished piece.
