We are inherently superstitious; toss coins in fountains for luck, leave padlocks on bridges to secure a relationship…. This painting focuses on individual’s wishes and desires and how we gain comfort from being part of a collective activity, something bigger than ourselves. On close inspection the adorned ancient oak tree revels itself to be the guardian of neatly folded and hidden desires, a wish tree. Being based in Sevenoaks, this ancient tree has particular significance to me.
