This piece reflects the reality that life is rarely one thing or another. From childhood into adulthood many of us are shaped by both beauty and hardship, growth and struggle. We carry experiences from each side with us, often long after they have passed.

A single path separates two contrasting landscapes. One side is filled with vibrant greens, flowers and signs of life. The other is marked by bare branches and signs of emptiness. Together, they represent the opposing forces that influence our lives and the choices we make while navigating between them.

As I painted, I did not fully realize the meaning that was emerging. Looking back, I see the path as reflection of our journey through life - the road we travel while learning from both the light and dark. The struggles we face, especially in our younger years can shape who we become just as much as the moments of joy, love, and growth.

This work acknowledges the internal battles many carry quietly. It is a reminder that we are not defined solely by our hardships or successes, but by our ability to continue forward. The path remains, and with each step we choose which direction will guide us, knowing that both sides have played a role in shaping the person we are today.
