I find the history of self portraiture among artists to be absolutely fascinating. Many believe the practice began as a way to show potential patrons the artist's skill level, sort of like a calling card. I am regularly drawing myself as an inexpensive and simpler way to hone my skills. Simpler because it's way easier than getting others to sit still for me! And while I'm not sure anyone but my mom would actually want to purchase this, I did make it available... I mean, why not‽ I'm quite sure that if we'd been around when Van Gogh was painting, we'd be kicking ourselves for not buying one of Vincent's many self portraits 😂!
