Happy Toaster is part of The Inner Child collection, a set of paintings I created during my initial exploration stages in pop surrealism, the visual art current I got involved with as means to capture my attempts to reframe the recollections of personal experience (a.k.a. the ebb and flow of my subconscious)

During a time of much inner turmoil characterised by the protective folding of my emotions, I longed to find the inner joy that I knew was somewhere within me. Happy toast is the way I imagined a personal exploration of myself in search for the much wanted moment of bliss: the way to the top of a hill where happiness, represented by a happy toaster spitting toasts, the warm and crispy welcome to a new day, into a cotton candy sky, was pretty much a metaphor of all I wanted. I framed the scene with flowers and butterflies with eyes in them, as a reminder of imagination and wondering being the first steps to take when pursuing a dream, or simply keeping alive a want.
