Isidora Gajic is an artist who aims to transform feelings and relationships into photographs. Using images as a form of visual poetry. Creating works with experimental photography, handmade artist books, collages, and multimedia visuals. Exploring themes from nature elements, symbolism, mythologies, history of fairy tales and so on.
Isidora has exhibited throughout Brazil, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Serbia, and Latvia, in dual and group shows at venues such as SESC institution in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, KCG cultural center in Serbia, Autumn show at Pavilion des arts Cvijeta Zuzoric, Belgrade, Serbia, and ISSP Latvia – gallery & museum of photography. Solo shows in Rio de Janeiro at Gallery Silvia Cintra + Box 4 in 2020 and 2024. A solo show from the silk prints series: ‘Sirenes’ at Simone Klein’s gallery in Cologne, Germany, in 2022. A solo show at Gallery Wickbold in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2016. Won the Dutch Talent award in 2012 (by GUP Publications). In 2018, French publishing house L’Editeur du Dimanche and Brazilian Editora Madalena published Isidora’s book of photography Ecume. In 2022 publishing house L’Editeur du Dimanche published Isidora’s second book: Sirenes handmade artist book an edition of 30 copies. Attended Residencies such as ISSP in Latvia (2012), and with artist Miguel Rio Branco in Brazil (2014-2016).
Born in 1988 in Belgrade, Serbia, while she grew up in Hungary and Switzerland. After finishing her secondary education, she moved to the Netherlands, where she attended the Foto-Factory school of visual arts in Amsterdam, she obtained a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Art). Also attended various masterclasses on experimental photography, Silk printing, large-format photography, and darkroom printing.
Isidora worked at the World Press Photo (Amsterdam 2010-2012), and as a manager of archives and creative production, book designing for artists such as: Paul Blanka (2009-2012) and Miguel Rio Branco (2013-2020).
Since 2013 her studio is located in Araras, Rio de Janeiro.
