The house was built between the two wars when most of Canada suffering through recession, Kelowna's economy was still thriving for Frederick Jozef Willis (1885-1983) and Annie Marcia Willis (1887-1970) and their family.
F.J.Willis was born in Lombardy, Ontario and came to Kelowna with his family in 1930. He was with The Royal Bank of Canada and Manager of the Kelowna Branch from July 1930 until his retirement in June 1945. After his wife's death in 1970, he moved to Vancouver to be close to family and died in 1983 at the age of 97.
The Royal Bank opened its doors for business September 20, 1907, in the old Lequime General Store on the south side of Bernard Avenue. A new building was erected on the Northeast corner of Bernard Avenue and Mill Street and in October 1911, the staff and business of the Kelowna Branch transferred over to this new location.
