Statement
I’m an Afro-Caribbean artist and visual storyteller with deep roots in both the Black Southern and Afro-Caribbean experiences. Through bold color, layered textures, and mixed media collage, I bring the heart and soul of my subjects to life. My work centers on the powerful legacies of women—past and present—through the lens of heritage, history, and spirit. I often say I bring color to the black-and-white moments of life, infusing them with rhythm, resilience, and cultural memory.
I’m deeply inspired by the histories, myths, and spiritual traditions of women across the African diaspora. That inspiration becomes a creative urgency—a force that drives me until the work is complete. My collages blend paint, fabric, paper, and found materials, allowing me to move between figurative, narrative, and symbolic styles. Each piece invites interpretation while staying grounded in my unique perspective as a Black woman shaped by both Caribbean and Southern traditions. Finishing a piece feels like a personal and cultural unveiling—telling stories, honoring my lineage, and revealing parts of myself in the process.
