Minnesotan Hubert Humphrey spent much of his life in public service to the United States. In addition to being a Senator, he served as Vice President under Lyndon B. Johnson from 1965-9. He was the Democratic Presidential candidate during the 1968 election, and was defeated by Republican candidate Richard Nixon. His Vice-Presidential running mate was Edmund Muskie. At the bottom of this work is Humphrey’s autograph. The political buttons come from many different campaigns for public office.
