This photograph was printed in 2020 for Magnum Square Prints, as part of a benefit sale--half the proceeds went to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
This photo was taken August 28th, 1963. His artist's wife Brigitte Freed remembers: "This is the day. Bus-loads of marchers, Leonard Freed and I, amongst them, in our very small Italian Fiat 600. People of all colors, of all ages, of all religions, singing 'We shall overcome'. Unforgettable, always, forever".
