Linda Devenow

Beginnings

I was not going for the obvious effects in which a lot of black and white infrared is envisioned as surrealistic.  Instead, I was bringing out the structural and textural qualities that were not present in day-to-day color or black or white images. I want to show them in sharp focus highlighting  shadows, structure and texture.

Ethereal

More experience using techniques that transform the images to resemble oil and watercolor paintings.

Ethereal solo show at Walt O'Brien's from February 2025 reviewed and discussed on Viz City KLCC Radio Show

Middle Fork, Willamette River

This Collection was the 4/26/2020 part of the solo Memories of 2/9 and 4/26/2020 exhibit at Walt O'Brien Gallery in October 2022. Interviews from that exhibit are here as follows;

Moving Toward the Emotive

A friend asked me why this Collection is using the word Emotive versus Emotion. I specifically chose the work Emotive, as I want the work  to evoke an authentic reaction from the viewer.  From Vocabulary.com:

“Emotion: The internal state or experience of a person or thing.

  Emotive:  is used with regard to something that makes you have intense feelings rather than just having intense feelings.”
