Hope Reis is originally from Greenwich, Connecticut, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Since moving to Florida in 2000 she has set about learning to paint through self-study and participating in workshops with some of the finest painters today.
Hope says, "I seek to combine realism and impressionism in my paintings. Painting and drawing from life is what really excite me. Whether arranging a living set up in my studio, painting outside, “en plein air”, or working with a model, my desire is to capture the effect of the light and feeling." She works mostly in oils, although she takes watercolors sometimes when traveling. Hope is continually inspired by the richness of the work of the Old Masters such as Sorolla & Anders Zorn, and hopes her paintings have a timeless quality to them. "Truly I want my work to reflect the appreciation I feel for the glorious beauty God has given us all to enjoy."
She is a member of Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, American Impressionist Society, Women Painters of the Southeast, Plein Air Painters of Palm Beach, and Landscape Painters International.
