Welcome!
I hope you enjoy my portfolio as much as I enjoyed creating my art.
Creativity plays a major role in my life. In the past, my two children provided excellent opportunities to get started with photography, and thanks to the art schools in Mechelen, Schoten and Sint Niklaas, I immersed myself in illustration (applied graphics), ceramics and oil painting.
For me, there can be no creation without feeling or personal connection. Both my paintings and ceramics grow out of the feeling that a snapshot gives me.
I draw inspiration from my immediate surroundings – from travel experiences or from images that challenge me creatively.
However, my works do not depict literal reality; often they are reflections of it, and those reflections can sometimes be taken literally: light, water and reflections form spontaneous recurring themes throughout my work.
My art is personal and therefore cannot arise from a purely commercial approach.
I took up ceramics about three years ago. The tactile quality of the material, the possibility of direct dimensionality and, here too, the interplay of colour and light with the glaze appeal to me enormously.
The works themselves prove that all this should be taken with a serious wink.
A little glimpse behind the scenes for you, the viewer.
