Dad’s Ties refers to the Father’s Day presents my daughter gave me as a child. The vertical bands resemble neckties, but also stand for conventions, opinions, and expectations that shape identity. Two dark bars interrupt the rhythm. The hands forcing them apart suggest a jailbreak — a metaphor for my pursuit of artistic freedom. Built with heavy palette-knife layers, the work combines geometric order with expressive texture and symbolic abstraction.
