Recent Work

This collection includes completed paintings during the last few years, as well as some pieces that are in process in the studio.

Small Works

This collection features my smaller work ranging in size from 8x8 to 30x30 inches, including paintings on canvas, paper, and wood panels using acrylic paint, oil pastel, collage, ink and other media.

In/Scapes

While I don't consider myself a landscape painter, many of my paintings feel like they explore a sense of place, reflecting the inner and outer landscapes I inhabit. The work has both geographic and psychological dimensions to it, where internal and external meld. Forms take shape that hold emotional meaning for me — horizon lines, bodies of water, openings and portals, bridges and border crossings.

Beyond Measure

This series explores some of the dimensions of my experience raising a daughter with a developmental disability. Using collage materials drawn from years of accumulated educational and aptitude tests, work sheets and homework, I reclaim, deface and repurpose the ripped and torn fragments into new constellations. A cathartic and invigorating process!

In the Midst of Everything

This series came to life spontaneously during the first year of the Covid pandemic, while sheltering in place in San Francisco and spending long hours and days on end in the studio. It grew to 14 paintings that were created side by side, tracing the different moods and energy, inside and out, of that tumultuous period of time. In 2024, I revisited and revised many of the paintings in the series, usually brightening them and painting over a lot of the graphite gray that had permeated the work during the first pass. The photos here include those that were reworked and those that stayed the smae.

Collaborative Paintings

During the early days and months of the Covid lockdown, my longtime studio mate and I decided to work on some collaborative paintings as a response to all the isolation of that period of time and to experiment with the additional time we had together in the studio, our creative refuge. Working spontaneously and usually to music, we produced five large paintings over the course of several months.
