Crossing Embers explores the relationship between field, energy, and structure, an ongoing inquiry into how atmosphere, movement, and form can exist together within a single space.
Layers of color build a shifting field that feels both expansive and grounded. A passage of warm red moves across the surface, suggesting something passing through. Along the edge, a vertical element introduces support, bringing clarity and balance while allowing the surrounding atmosphere to remain open.
While the work is nonrepresentational, it carries a sense of landscape and memory. Earlier layers remain visible, allowing the history of the painting to stay present. The surface feels lived in, as if it has evolved over time rather than been imposed.
This piece reflects my continuing interest in how vastness, longing, and reality can exist together. How openness can be held by structure. How movement can find its place within a larger field.
