Heather Neilson is an abstract painter and mixed media artist with over 30 years of experience. She studied at the Art Students League of New York and has trained with several master artists, continuously evolving her process through exploration and experimentation. Over the past decade, Heather has also been an active and passionate art educator, trained by GOLDEN Paints, and committed to helping others tap into their creative voice. Before pursuing art full-time, she worked professionally in marketing and holds a B.A. in Communications from Rutgers University.

Heather Neilson is an abstract painter and mixed media artist whose work explores inner and outer landscapes, drawing from memory and the passage of time. Rooted in the search for resonance and a sense of home, she uses color, texture, and form to evoke balance while also holding space for tension, change, and ambiguity.
Her intuitive, process-driven approach gives visual form to internal experience. Through instinct and a call-and-response relationship with the work, she aims to connect with the subtle rhythms and inner urges that shape and connect us.
Heather’s perspective has been influenced by a lifelong sensitivity to place and the many landscapes she has called home. These shifting environments echo the internal terrain she continues to explore—cycles of beginnings, change, renewal, and the search for equilibrium.
Beyond her personal practice, Heather finds great joy in helping others discover and express their own creative voice. Through art classes and workshops, offered both in person and online, she provides individuals with the tools, guidance, and encouragement essential to uncover their inner artist. Within a warm and inviting creative space, participants can embark on a journey of self-expression, skill development, personal growth and transformation. These experiences not only offer intrinsic rewards but also create opportunities for meaningful connections with like-minded individuals.
